Big News Comes in Small Packages
Hampton Roads' coffee lovers gained an entirely new appreciation for their favorite brew on October 28th, as Governor
McDonnell announced that Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Inc.®, a leader in specialty coffee and coffeemakers, will
establish a production and distribution facility in Isle of Wight County. The company, famous for its Keurig® coffee
machines, will purchase a 330,000 square-foot building on a 64 acre parcel of land, where it expects to roast, grind,
flavor, and package its single-serve K-Cup® coffee packets.

Frequent Flyer Miles – Fall 2011
Fall often marks the Alliance's busiest travel season, and 2011 is no exception.
In August the Alliance, along with the Virginia Port Authority, visited California for both corporate and consultant appointments.
There, our team met with a commodity exporter looking to expand his business with an east coast location, two third-party logistics
firms hoping to grow their operations, and an importer of foreign-made aftermarket auto parts.

Combining Efforts:
The Alliance: Our Singular Role
The Alliance, along with investors The Virginian-Pilot and Seventh Point, is creating a new advertising campaign to identify the
Alliance's role within the business community. The Virginian-Pilot's research revealed that although readers noticed previously
placed ads, they remained unaware of the Alliance or its mission. To address this disconnect, the campaign will feature ads that
clearly identify the Alliance, establish the link between an investment with the Alliance and an investment in the region, and
explain the impact that a new company's location has on Hampton Roads.

Good News:
An Abundance of Announcements and Accolades for 2011
Despite troubling economic conditions nationwide, Hampton Roads remains a top area of interest for companies looking to expand or
invest. Between January and October, corporations made 43 announcements; 29 will expand their current operation, while 14 companies
will open their first location in the region. These announcements will generate 2,937 new jobs, occupy more than 1,800,000 square
feet of office/industrial space and invest approximately $388 million.
